THE POLLUTION IMPACT OF THE TIETÊ RIVER PASSAGE IN SANTANA DE PARNAÍBA ON COMMERCIAL ACTIVITIES IN THE REGION

The basic sanitation and water resources are some of the public policies managed by the public authorities and have faced great challenges due to population growth and development in recent decades in the state of São Paulo, as a result of projects created by the government in partnership with companies for the treatment and depollution of the Tietê River. The objective of the work is to investigate how the pollution of the "River Tietê" impacts the businesses in the region of Santana de Parnaíba. The research is qualitative in nature, the methodology was by means of bibliographic research and data collection through questionnaires, interviews with consumers, city merchants and representatives of the municipal government. The main results were that there are negative impacts on local commerce and that the public agency of the city of Santana de Parnaíba does not have projects and actions in favor of the depollution of the Tietê River. The contribution for the theory is to deepen the knowledge of the municipal public policies and the impacts caused by the local businessmen facing the pollution of the river. The contributions to future research were to present information as a basis for further research on the actions taken to clean up the river. As a proposal for future research, we propose an analysis of the public policies adopted in the municipalities along the banks of the Tietê River and a comparison and analysis of the efficiency of these policies.
